I've asked this question too. I spoke to an old pal of mine that's fairly high up at a major big city newspaper. I asked why there was no real news about the war. He pointed up! "Stories," he said, "are spiked!" That's newspaper talk for 'killed' on the orders of managment. "What ever happened to, 'we reveal what they conceal'?" I asked. He looked ashamed. "Don't ask!"
This war is something that simply has fallen off the radar except for the 'politics' of it. I suspect that it didn't fall of the radar all by itself. Like Humpty Dumpty, it was 'pushed'! Oddly, on page A6 in the Nov. 15, 2007 issue of the Arizona Republic there was a reprint by Thomas Ricks of the Washington Post titled, 'Iraq Government is Key Threat to Effort, US Says'. It seems that the US installed 'Vichy Iraq' government is so totally powerless, corrupt and out of touch that these people are zero help. The so-called movers and shakers of Iraq politics either hate us, hate each other or both and live in fear of their lives...so they do nothing, as if they would if they could. Something about this entire business doesn't pass the sniff test. At some level way above our pay grade someone is bagging the real story. Gee...I wonder who!

The news is now focusing on Pakistan and Iran. Don't worry they will get back to Iraq when they have some bad news to report!

Because it's not the fiasco it once was, and no longer goes along with the party line of the liberal media that we are losing. So rather than report the good news, they just don't report at all.

the troop death levels are back down to 2006 levels... which is slow compared to what it has been...

there's still like 3 attacks a day on average in Bagdhad tough, just not 10-20 like 8 months ago...

and there doesn't seem to be anything new... just the same attacks and people don't seem to really care anymore...

were we winning in 2006?
