No "new" planet(s) has been found in our solar system. Planet X, also known as Nibiru, is a total myth and has no basis whatsoever in scientific fact.

However, a new dwarf planet has been found in our solar system. It's known as UB313 or Eris and is larger than Pluto. The International Astronomical Union (..IAU..) is the organization that decides these kinds of things, and they have decided that UB313 is to be classified as a dwarf planet, not a planet.

With the demotion of Pluto your planet X and the former planet are considered "minor planets". The problem is that there are thousands of these objects on the outskirts of the solar system so naming a new planet would justify naming thousands of other planets. This is why we only have 8 planets in the solar system, despite how cool a planet X sounds.

Hi. From the web. "Planet X is a large hypothetical planet with an orbit beyond that of Neptune. The scientific basis of the Planet X hypothesis was broadly discounted in the early 1990s and today no significant portion of the scientific community believes it to exist."

Edit. From the web. "The Pioneer 10, Pioneer 11, Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 space probes helped disprove the existence of a Planet X as hypothesized by Lowell.

First, as the probes passed the outer planets, the acceleration caused by the planets' gravitational pull was used to more precisely determine their masses, which were shown to be lower than originally estimated by as much as 1%. When the correct masses were used to determine the orbits of the outer planets, the remaining discrepancies vanished."

I thought Eris was the newest planet found in our solar system. It's classified as a "dwarf planet" (the same status as Pluto, and Ceres in the asteroid belt).

Is you talking about UB313? AKA Eris? It was found somewhat recently and they want(or did not sure) to name it Eris. It is in the keiper belt and is further out than Pluto. It's cool that we found another one but it's just another dwarf planet...

I don't really see it as another planet. I feel that its more of just a huge rock floating around in outerspace.
