why do people give me smart a** & cocky answers when I ask a normal question & am just looking for advice or trying to be friendly? I'm getting tired of it & might quit Yahoo Answers. What about you?

well you have to take peoples opinions on message boards with a grain of salt you have people who are polite and nice and then you have people who seen bothered by you asking them so don't let these people get you down ask Jesus he will give you a straight answer and it won't be wrong

I do not know why do people do this to you. Maybe sometimes people find some questions, even though they are normal, cocky and answer in the same way. You should scan all the answers and which are informative and friendly be kept in mind. Rest of the answers may be discarded. You should not quit Yahoo Answers as I am not doing so.

I haven't asked many questions so I haven't received any smart a** & cocky answers. I am guilty of giving a couple of answers to some which could be considered smart a** because the questions asked were absolutely moronic in nature. Perhaps the " Judge Judy " saying fits the situation better " Beauty is skin deep. DUMB is forever.

If you like it here then don't let someone run you off. People can be cruel for no reason and it is sad to say but get use to it.
Just know that people will be like that and you can't leave something you enjoy because of that. So hang out and ask and answer questions as you want.

I see your point, some people just think anonymity in internet is for doing whatever you don't have the guts to do when people know who you are. Insult and make fun of others, etc.
I quit coming to Y! Answers along time ago, I don't participate much these days. Everybody seems so mean.
Just gotta ignore them...

I think that some people try to answer as best they can but come off as flippant or smart alicky due to their tone or shortness. I would not put to much in to it and just accept that some, maybe like your self, just have better grammar skills or know just a hint more than others.

I know some people can be so mean. I guess it is easy to write something down and not care about who's feelings get hurt. I really try to help and not be judgmental. If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all.

its because their stupid a**& cocky idiots who needed answers with their problems the most! and they all trying to be all perfect and righteous but deep down their miserable!!
who cares what other people think, if you don't wanna read their answers then just deleted. don't let it get to you!

That is pretty frustrating, but I haven't had it happen too much. I'm sorry. Don't quit. There's always a good answer that comes along eventually.

It makes them feel smart and superior, perhaps something they miss out on in their regular day-to-day lives.
Ignore them, they're miserable and are just trying to spread the misery.
