Origin: Kmart

In 1899 Sebastian Spering "Kresge" opened a store in Detroit selling items for 5 and 10 cents. By 1912, there were 85 Kresge stores. :-)

i think that wayyyyyyyyyyy baci ti was called kresgies. then w/mergers and marts it got shortened
