Who do they think worked for years and years and paid taxes that built their roads, their hospitals, their schools, their parks, their playgrounds, the military, the whole darn country that they are living in ?
Do these "people" think the flipping stork delivered all of this the same time it delivered them?

sure the taxes seniors paid have long been spent, duh, no one is that dumb, but it was these taxes that created tthe infrastructure that the country has been built on - that isnt hard to figure out.

You tell em. I think war and criminals and unruly kids are a burden to tax payers. I always love old people since I was a little girl, and they seem to enjoy me as well, because I show interest in their life and life stories. Our Elders need Hugs not Hate :)
Especially after all they've done for us, the examples they set long ago are being trampled on by idiots and unruly kids.
It's the wild children out there that need to be dealt with, for the sake of the future, not the past. Our Elders deserve loving peaceful passings.
Think of how much harder our generations of Elders had to work because they had to do everything by hand the old fashioned way, and the younger generations are complaining? with all the tools and technology people barely have to touch Anything these days! The Elders need to gang up on these younger people and show them who got them into the future to start with! lol.

The post office was a taxpayer burden until the semi-independent postal service was set up. It is not a government waste program but a vital public service. Any postal service in any country that delivers everywhere is going to be a taxpayer burden so get over it. And by the way, the tax burden in the USA is just a hair above the absolute lowest of any western industrialized nation. If you want lower taxes, move to Mexico.

I don't mean to be a wet blanket here, but the taxes we all paid are long ago spent, and the money our children are paying in taxes now have already been spent also. Most of the government services we receive today will be paid for by our grandchildren and those who follow them.
that is what "deficit spending" means, folks. My parents received far more in Social Security benefits than they ever paid in, by living long, and my In-laws are now way past what they paid in also. The government has spent so far beyond it's capacity to pay, that we are all in for a big surprise.

They're too busy with their little lives to give a twit about what's been handed to them on a silver platter.
It will take something "large" in this life to wake them up, but they do wake up, it's just such a pain waiting for them to do it.
One of the main "large" things that takes them totally by surprise is the fact that they are aging, just like the rest of us. Until they realize that, it's a waste of time trying to teach a student that there is a world outside of their own. At least that's the way I've found it for the general population.
But then, there's that small bunch that are way ahead of the curve. They're the ones you will find volunteering to serve the needs of those in Skilled Nursing Facilities and other Social Services. They don't have time to sit and gripe about being burdened by paying their taxes. They are the true future leaders of our nations.
Remember, those who sit and gripe while they are young will sit and gripe when they are old. Never understanding, or accepting, that maybe they could have made the difference.
No, for them it wasn't the "flipping stork" that delivered them, it was the "resentful rhino" that put them where they are!

During the Viet Nam era, you had those people who just had to flee to other countries because they didn't believe in war. Today those same people are the ones crying for there boys and girls to come home from wherever the military has sent them. Everything changes, yet everything remains the same. Some are born to greatness and then there are the whiners. The whiners want everything to be handed to them on a plate, but they don't want to do anything to get it. As most of you say, there time is coming, what I worry about is it going to be too late for us or too early for them?

I betcha the person that said it has "loopholes" in place that require them to pay the minimum tax debt already!!
Did you hear the recent news item (just yesterday morning on TV) that said CEOs of major corporations carry LESS tax debt than there lowliest CLERKS?! EVERY ONE of them refused to be interviewed about it....
If I were Joe Blow taxpayer I'd be worried more by the division of the "burden of debt" between myself and the rich!!
Your average Senior citizen that begins collecting SSI (or it's equivalents) have paid CONTINUOUSLY into that system for 50 years....making them MORE THAN entitled to receive some benefit from it!!!

Hi you, don't let her get you down. In the sceme of things her opinion is not all that important, right?
We have paid our dues and and are a valuable asset to any country with our great wisdom. I would feel sorry for any one who thinks that seniors are a burden.

Youngsters living in Lala land. Haven't a clue about reality, becoming middle age much less over 50. Time will tell, s*it will smell and water will seek its level. Fraid they'll be drowning as they don't show the ability to tread water.

That don't take nerve, this is an anonymous forum after all.
The stork did too deliver them -- who do you think gave them the Vlasic pickle that made them so sour on life ?

Pure ignorance and arrogance!!! They forgot to study any American History in school. Some young people today are are so stupid it's embarrassing. Anyone ever watch "Jay Walking" on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. I just cringe when he asks such simple questions and get such stupid, ignorant answers.
