I personally think that anitbiotics and severe pain medicines are good enough.

Anything that can be treated by a lifestyle change or a dietary change, drugs should not be involved and I see them as the easy way out.

Also, antibiotics for an infection that will improve with time by itself I am against, but for an infection that will not get better and will kill the patient or severely handicap them in the future, bring on the antibiotics. (example, I took penicillin for rheumatic fever that would have killed me or at least damaged my heart)

There are ways to cope with pain without taking strong pain meds. If any of those ways are possible than the meds should be skipped or at least lowered. Sometimes the alternative therapy works better than meds.

No, not against all drugs but limited use of certain drugs.
The 2 kinds you mention should be used sparingly for the obvious reasons but some drus are important to sustain life eg diabetes meds, Parkinson's meds , transplant and so on.
I think the antibiotics make the body's immume system weaker and more prone to infections and pain killers cause addiction to meds.

not all but most! herb antibiotics is sometimes refered to as Whole Medicine or Wholistic Meds!
I recommend for Antibiotics: Pau d' Arco, Astralagus ( there's a third herbal one can't think of it at the moment.) If the herbal ones fail then that is the time to try the prescription drugs!
My rule of thumb is the Natural Way only if that don't work then go the other way! I am a Herbalist!

An interesting question. The term "drugs," whether prescription, holistic, natural, standardized, or non-standardized, are essentially all the same. Technically, anything you take into your body, including food and air, have life-altering potential. It is possible, for example, to overdose and die on copious water intake, and to die from a lack of it.

"Drugs" have been in use by human beings for thousands of years in every population, and substances discovered to enhance comfort or healing are nothing new--even in non-human species. Elephants for example, cover themselves in mud to keep biting flies off and reduce sun exposure. My cat eats grass to facilitate throwing up hairballs. Handcream and sunscreen are topical "drugs." Your question is incredibly broad.

Countless diseases and conditions beyond infections and pain are treated with some sort of "drug." The use of "drugs" is easy to disparage as long as you suffer no malady.

I am not against all prescription drugs, but I do think most of them are overprescribed and the vast majority of them are unnecessary.

I prefer to try herbal/holistic treatments before going to pharmaceuticals. However, I have an autoimmune disease that has ravaged my intestines, and therefore must rely on 2 Rx drugs to keep my parts working. I tried to go off of them and treat naturally, and it had disastrous results. For that I am thankful to have the pharmaceuticals.
For everyday ailments and illnesses, I still prefer natural remedies first.

I lived on various medications for years only to be numb and could not trust anyone. I had had enough so I went off. Realizing I did have an imbalance I went to a natural doctor. I have been on supplements for 4 mths now and I would not go back to mental drugs for anything.....

I'm against taking all pharmaceuticals, unless in a life or death type of situation. Drugs are way over prescribed, and generally they're not needed. I haven't taken any pharmaceuticals, including things like aspirin, in eleven years. I wouldn't suggest that to everyone, but it's worked out great for me. I use various holistic medicines instead, if needed.

Antibiotics have to be one of the worst ones you could consume.

They deplete the friendly bacteria in your intestine - decrease immunity and overall health.

They can also cause candida

just most drugs. unless in a emergency. why take a drug when i can take a nutrient.

the drugs have side effects that are mostly bad. nutrients have side effects that are mostly good.

like if you went on a nutrional program to help ashma it would also help other systems in your body not just your lungs. but doing that takes a bigger commitment then taking one drug. but it is so worth it.
