there are actually forms for that. You can usually get them at the post office. Just fill one out and then hand it in and then you hope they'll give you permission. It usually takes a few weeks. But be prepared. My cousin was a great singer, she always had gigs lined up but when she finally tried to get permission, they said no. So she stopped singing and now she's clerks at Wal-mart.

First you will want to finish high school and pay close attention in English class (spelling and grammar in particular). Second you will want to get a professional vocal coach, because if you have watched even a little bit of American Idol, you know that just because you think you sound good, that doesn't mean other people will think so - get a second opinion from a professional. Don't give up on your dream but also realize there are not a lot of short cuts to the things that really matter in this life. Be willing to work hard and not let ego keep you from advancing in anything you do. Third, get a good day-job while you are working on the other things. You will still need to eat and have a place to sleep.

If you're good (like Kelly Clarkson), get an agent and start performing. Make demo tapes and send them off. If you're mediocre (like Hilary Duff or Miley Cyrus), don't bother. You'll never have a career. Even if you do get signed to the Disney Channel, you'll have your 15 minutes of fame and then you'll fade out like all the others.

go to american idol next season and if you really are good like you say then that'll be the place for you. It's the easiest way to become a professional singer because otherwise you'll end up spending to much time and money. Good luck!
I'll vote for you.

If you're actually good, not just think you are, try out for American Idol. If you're not good, give up on being a singer and ruin your life on drugs and things like that, as most people that have their dreams smashed do. Good Luck

Good self esteem is where it begins and the ability to remain humble. First off, have you tried singing locally like in talent competitions and venues? You need local exposure and create a name for yourself and a fan base. Then you need to create a look or a signature of yourself, remember to respect yourself as an aspiring artist so don't expose yourself all at once. Hire a manager or a talent agent to help you with your activities and get your gigs for you. The best place to start is creating a demo and then signing up with a company that can represent you if they like your style. Another way to do it is to post your demo on a site like SoundClick.com and have others hear it. I've discovered a lot of local artists this way and I've bought their CDs and keep them on my playlist, hoping they'd get famous. Remember that getting there will be financially burdening but rewarding in the end with strong hopes and perseverence.

Create a portfolio with your music, get 8x10 photos of you with full length body shots and headshots, preferrably in black in white but color will do as well. Do a studio recorded demo with good CD quality, not karaoke. Usually some studios will charge $25/hour but not all places charge the same rates and you won't just be there an hour to perfect it. Do cover songs with high quality sound instrumentals or have someone make beats for you and write your own song. But remember, reflect your own personal style. Don't sing an R&B song if you're trying to make it to Country. The managers and agents will then represent you and shop for a record label that will entertain you. You need to keep performing locally because this will increase your chances of exposure.

NO ONE GETS FAMOUS OVERNIGHT. Along with your portfolio should be a biography of your musical background, your range, your style, venues you've performed, any exposure to the public scene, etc. Keep it short but detailed, don't strangle them with long stories about your pet dog and then how your grandma wrapped you up in a blanket after birth.

Remember that you have to marketable. And focus on one goal at a time. Don't wake up tomorrow and say I'm going to be on a billboard and sell 2,000,000 albums. Start from step one. You can sign onto minor labels like KamikazeRecords.com or AgendaRecords.com because they accept unsolicited material and can you to your next step into fully developing a mainstream career. Not everyone will make it and some people will end up finding it's just not for them. Be prepared to keep your life in the public whether you're a local artist or an international pop star. Also, put your demo or singing on Myspace.com, Cassie had been discovered partly this way and her CD was spinning in a club and musical people in the industry had heard it.

Also, remain intact with good photographers who will do the covers and album photos, we don't want any webcam blurry snaps, do we? Package your portfolio and send it off. Send your demo to the local radio stations and have them air it, the better it is, the more requests, and the more word gets spread around you. Radio stations usually welcome local artists to send it in.
