The hellfire does not burn forever! When the bible talks about the "eternal Flame" he means, until the wicked are destroyed.

After Jesus has come to save the righteous, the living wicked are destroyed, while the wicked that were dead already are still dead. After a thousand years, which in the bible is refered to as the millenium. the wicked will be ressurrected and Lucifer and his angles will decieve the wicked by telling them that god is satan and that they have taken their kingdom. It's hard to think that the wicked will believe him, but lucifer, remeber, was an angle of the lord, he did not just turn hideously ugly when he fell from heaven. He is a beautiful angle, and that is how the wicked are decieved by him. so the wicked go toward the kingdom of Heaven to destroy it, but god of course, wins this "battle" and the wicked, lucifer, and Lucifer's angles are sent back to earth to be burned along with the earth. When the flame is out, then the kingdom of heaven will be brought to earth as the "New Jerusalem"

This is probably confusing, but you should go to this website, it really explains and shows you the text from the bible, how hell is.
