In 2002 Barry Bonds hit a line drive that did not elevate more than 4 feet off the ground before it hit the right center field wall. That is alot of power put into that swing. At that moment it was impossible to celebrate his achievments for face value.

During the 2007 world series Boras came out with the news that Arod was opting out of his contract costing the Yanks 21 million dollars. Arod might be going back to the Bronx.

What happened is what happened and definately both situations hurt baseball, but I think steroids affected more players and their fans then agents seeking the revenue baseball makes.

Actually, they both have the same effect on baseball...

Steroids - is causing fans to loose interest in baseball and their favorite players (look at Bonds, McGuire,...etc)

Agents - are making baseball look like a casino, they try to suck as much money as they can from teams for their clients. It ruins the fun in it, players are getting over paid for what they do.

Neither.

It's the person who chooses to have an agent and take steroids.

after the strike in 1994 steroids saved baseball and all of the owners looked the other way because they were making money. Now lets put some of the blame on them

Steroids. The only agent that hurts is Boras.

Agents are a necessary evil. Steroids are just plain evil.

it was the blind eye owners turned to roids that created the roids mess.

however, to answer your question, i would say sports agents even though the greedy owners also created them. the players got tired of getting ripped off and wanted their share, thus, unions, agents, and strikes came along.

historicly speaking baseball owners have not managed their product very well; and that continues today. EVERYTHING goes back to the owners!
