All I can really say is the man was an amazing ball player...and an amazing person. Your exactly right when you say he paved the way for so many people in sports. I think its awesome that Ken Griffey JR has kept him alive in the sport as well, and what all the ball players do on April 15th by wearing his number 42 is an awesome way to acknowledge all the great things about Jackie Robinson. I mean if only he knew the impact he would still have on the sport to this day. Its just awesome. : )

Yeah, he's been dead for thirty five years. He would be 88 if he lived today. He was born in Pasadena, California on January 31, 1919 and died on October 24, 1972. He was 53.
