Ok, so i need to turn the lights off pretty soon with out bothering them can i use a night time bulb and an ? my state is going through a coldfront so it will get in the 60's

an infrared or ceramic bulb would be good. you can also use a heating pad, but make sure your animal does not get in direct contact with the pad.

whatever you do, don't use heating rocks, they can hurt or kill your pet!

What kind of reptile? Most can tolerate an infrared lamp at night, but bearded dragons will be bothered by them. In their case, use a ceramic heat emitter instead. As long as your house doesn't go below 60-65F, the cool down at night is fine. During the day, optimal heat temps for the specific species must be met. You never want white light on at night for reptiles--it really stresses them.

he needs to be kept warmer than 60's. I have a heating pad ounderneath my tank and I have it on one side of the tank. I also use a red 100 watt lighting bulb for a heat source.

My snake is kept in the basement in Minnesota where its 40 out currently. I have a heating pad on one side of the tank and a red bulb for night and she seems to be content.

Go to zoo med on the net. Get ceramic heating elements.
