Scratching sounds. They love to rub their teeth on plaster boards and to scrape on walls. Once you hear it it will be unmistakable.

Most likely you will hear a lot of scratching and gnawing sounds. Mice have sharp long teeth and they need to shorten them, and wood is a perfect way for them to file them down. You might hear paper sounds if you have boxes up there because of the materials that go into cardboard, they will eat. If you think that there is something up there then put some rat poison up there or traps. There are some new ones that I just saw on TV that the mouse go in and you don't have to touch them or even look at them. BUT, anything that you do, you will have to go get it later. If something dies up there and you have a heater unit in the attic, like we do, then when the heat kicks on, it will smell up the whole house. Some exterminating companies will come out and take care of it for a small fee. That would be the way I would go, because they will come back out and take care of any dead ones. Best part!!!

We had mice in our attic. They burrowed through the insulation and were scratching the back of the plasterboard ceiling. We kept hearing frenetic scritching, then looked up and saw the thin paper separating the attic from our living room!
The mice had scratched completely through the plasterboard. Had we not gone up into the attic, put mousetraps up there and fixed the ceiling, we would have had buckets of fiber insulation and mice in our living room!
You might also hear squeaking if there are babies in nests.

Let a Jack Russell Terrier loose in it..it'll get them in no time at all!!! They're better then cats!!
No, seriously...my dog has gotten a couple in the house, and at this very moment, he's staking out a mouse in a cupboard..and will not leave it until he gets the mouse! Their breed is known for rodent hunting.
Actually, you could just put some Decon Rodent Poison in the attic, so IF they're mice, it'll do the job. Just hope that they die OUTSIDE of the house, trying to find water, cuz if they die in the house, sometimes hard to find them. Good luck!

If you hear clicking or scratching, its most likely a mouse up in your attic. Make sure to set traps up there in specific places where you think a mouse would go. And be sure to check the traps daily. You should consider putting a little bit of peanut butter in the trap, mice love it.

My brother in law owns a farm so they get mice quite often, they sell traps that are animal friendly. My sister gets them at Walmart. They are a plastic box that you put a treat inside the door only opens one way, once they are in there they can not get out. Which allows you to set them free in a better area away from your home.

You can tell if you have mice in your attic if you hear sqeaks or if you hear thing running across your floor. Or you could also get one of your friend to go up there for you

i think you might hear some squeaks at night...very faint... my bro heard it once, so if you hear anything that sounds like that you probebly do and to stop then just put some traps along the walls. Mice stay very close to the walls instead of running in the middle

I wouldn't go up either chances are the noise is more then likely bats in the attic. Have an exterminator check it out to be safe.

I would just set some traps and wait a day or two....
but please don't get the sticky kind- that is such a cruel way to die. Just get the old fashioned snappy ones. That way it's over quickly. OR, get the kind that they crawl into, but can't get out of, and then release them outside.
You can also look for mouse poop, which should be all over the place.
Good LUck!

Go to the store and get mice poison or glue traps...then set them around the house traps or throw the potion up there.
