Maybe, maybe not.

Of course you did :-)

O.K. Even though you are using "labels" that are only generalizations and meant as a weapon, i will still answer your question...

I asume you are young; I assume you are in good health and feeling "immortal"; I assume you call yourself by another label: Republican.

Now, here's the deal: Healthcare in the good olde U.S.A. is in tatters. Why? Greed. Most of the cost for healthcare goes to administration, malpractice insurance, highly inflated drug prices (greed again), insurance company profit. So, what's a feller to do?

How about we join the rest of the civilized world who are NOT Capitalist pigs and have a single-payer, Universal healthcare system (NOT socialized medicine, Another label to diminish the idea) that cuts out the greed and high profits for the big shots.

I do not neccassarily believe it is garbage, I just think it could be better. For example, if you have private Health Care, you should be able to keep it. However, if you have no healthcare, the government could pic up the tab. I think that is the best of both worlds.

I have health insurance at work. The portion I pay for has increased over 10% every year for the past several years. A lot of people don't even have that either because they can't afford it or they can't get it because they have preexisting conditions. There are real issues pertaining to our health care system that need to be addressed. Playing politics and pretending that those problems don't exist is irresponsible and solves nothing. We should be looking at all possible solutions. Ignoring ideas because you don't like the person or the party proposing them is, frankly, pretty stupid.

I've never heard a single liberal say America's Healthcare System is garbage. What they say is that we have a great health care system for those who's employer provides it or are wealthy enough to buy their own. But many can't afford it. And our manufacturing companies can't compete when they have to provide it - so they are moving overseas.

I don't need anybody to tell me about America's health care system. I've had plenty of experience with HMOs, insurance companies, paid thousands of dollars on premiums, deductibles co-pays, and have had lots of personal experience. Thing is nobody wants to socialize medicine. Most proposed plans use existing services and by consolidating services and having a single payer will save everyone money and leave nobody uncovered.

No because they have not studied the impact of socialized medicine on a society like the US where the populace believes that everyone, regardless of age or other complicating medical conditions, is entitled to the best medicine has to offer. Good luck with that under a socialized health care system.

I haven't heard anyone say America's health care system is garbage. But, America's health care system only works for the insured. The 47 million people who don't have health care are one serious illness away from losing everything they have worked for all their lives.
The US and South Africa are the only industrialized countries in the world without health care for all citizens. We are near the bottom in infant mortality. Some record, huh?

I believe that every American should be able to access health care, regardless of how much money they make. Let's face it. Medical costs are out of control. My sis-in-law had cancer surgery in July and the explanation of benefits showed the insurance company had paid over 1 million dollars for a 3 week stay, 10 days in isolation and ICU. Her food cost over $16,000 dollars and all she could eat was jello and drink juice. Disposable plastic pads cost $140.00 each, so you tell me. Should we go on this way?

Well I think it is good that the option is put on the table so we can have a real debate about it and decide what we want to do. I'm undecided so I look forward to the debate about healthcare in this next election.

Yes, because the only people who benefit from our healthcare today are the really poor or really rich. The government helps the poor pay, the rich can afford it, but where does that leave the middle class?
