Denmark: Flag pictured 1340-1370 in the Gelre Armorial; supposed origin 1347.
Switzerland: Emblem adopted 1339.

The history of Flag can be trace back to the early days of Egypt. Egyptians and Assyrians place sacred emblems and other objects on standard.
In the Encyclopedia International:
The First Flag was on 1785 (oldest national Flag) . The "SPANISH FLAG" , 1785.
The Spanish and the French flags once flew in the Louisiana Territory, bought by the United State from France in 1803

According to this the legend (and that's all it is) records the first use of this flag (the DANNEBROG) is in 1219. The flag is however known from pictures to have been used since the 14th Century.
