How do you think all those people are DEAD from Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction if Saddam didn't have any?

You're right - it wasn't as if 20 years had passed and things had changed or anything

Thanks for clearing that up with your astute analysis. We are all smarter for it.

do you know anything about our dealings with Saddam Hussein in the Iraq-Iran War?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraq-Iran_War
He used weapons on them, and we didn't bat an eye. We gave him gobs of cash then.

this was many years before we changed our minds after the attack on Kuwait, and had a US/UN force destroy the WMD programs in the 1990s. After 1998, Iraqi scientists have said that the programs were never recoverable, especially with the way we were placing sanctions on a war-torn country.

And the evidence Bush cited was, at the time of his announcements, out of date and knowingly taken from poor sources. Have you heard about the lynchpin source, "Curveball" ?

--edit: I would like to add that in early 2001, both Condoleeza Rice and Colin Powell said that Saddam Hussein was not a threat and had no more WMDs.
--to the "chlorine bombs" response, did you seriously just say that? They took a truck with chlorine (yes, they use chlorine in industries and for pools) and they wired it with conventional explosives. That's a car bomb, NOT a real chemical weapon, certainly not at the level weaponized poison gas WMDs. It was not a war machine or even under the control of Saddam Hussein at any time.

I really don't think that people should subscribe to the Idea that there aren't any wmds there; It's logical that they are still there hidden, or they have been passed off to one of Saddam's allies.

During the Oil-for-food program, Saddam was able to run rampant with his objectives of more power and destroying Israel and others through bribing and corrupting key UN members(some of which were immune from prosecution because of their official employment with the UN).

But that wouldn't sit very well with the Kool-aid bunch, would it?

It is amazing how some people refuse to get this no matter that the average 6 year old can understand.
20 odd years ago he used WMDs (with our approval) in a war. For the last 16 years sanctions and inspections did thier job of preventing further development.
The US military used single shot muskets in a war once - it does not mean there is a huge arsenal of them hidden from the world.

"People can quarrel with whether we should have more troops in Afghanistan or internationalize Iraq or whatever, but it is incontestable that on the day I left office, there were unaccounted for stocks of biological and chemical weapons."

He used mustard gas on the Kurds and on Iranian troops in the 80s. His military and WMDs were wiped out in the 90 Gulf War. His new WMDs were wiped out in 1998 in bombing runs ordered by Clinton.

Because the UN didn't find any and the chemical components deteriorate very quickly in chemical weopens..at the time that america claimed he had them..they were gone and there was no record or evidence that he bought more of it.

That was a long time ago and they were taken away before sanctions were set. The only weapons of mass destruction in use in Iraq currently are American made.

Sanctions actually worked! Also, he kept up the pretense because he was afraid of Iran. Convoluted logic - yes. But again you don't talk with someone and assume things you generally get bad results.

Actually Saddam used Mustard Gas that the US gave to him. He didn't have any more because he used them all up, while killing hundreds of thousands of his own people.
