Yes, he will be back, but there is no way they can give him a four-year deal. Rivera is a great Yankee, and a future Hall of Famer, but there is no way they can give him four years. He is 38, and he can't continue to overpower batters with his cutter into his 40s.

Rivera has maybe two good years left, three if he's lucky. He's missed time the past two years with with back and forearm injuries. Also, last year his ERA was above 3.00 for the first time since his rookie year. Was it because he had a few bad outings early in the year? Or is it age?

Mo needs to accept the Yankees' offer. It is not the four years that he wanted, but it's by far the best offer he is going to get in terms of money.

The question is "who will blink first?" Rivera will sign with the Yankees. It's just a matter of who has more will power. Will Rivera give in and accept the 3/$45 deal or will the Yankees think Rivera might go somewhere else and offer a 4/$60 deal. Either way, Rivera is in pinstripes next year.

They'll wait and see, if another team offers Rivera more money and the 4th year, than the Yankees will try to do better, eventually (Hopefully) he signs with the Yankees. In fact he deserves the 4th year and the money, since he is the best post season Closer of all time. Just give him what he wants...He will eventually be the next Saves Leader of all time too.

It's the same situation as Lowell's. He's asking for 4th year, but no one is going to give it too him, as same for Rivera. Plus, Yankees have offered Rivera the best contract for a closer and no other team is going to be offering that much amount of money, not even the DODGERS, so yes he's coming back to the pin-strips

I have to believe that the Steinbrenner's will end up giving Rivera what he wants. We are talking about the greatest relief pitcher in the history of the game. Extremely popular with Yankee Nation, it's imperative that "Hank the Yank" does the right thing. Rivera has always answered the bell and deserves the consideration. With a four year guaranteed contract this will secure Rivera's Yankee legacy for all time.

I think Rivera will likely come back to the Yankees. I don't want to see him leave, like the rest of the Yankee fans.

i think of the yankees would desire to concentration on the arod, i'm a crimson sox fan, yet this would in basic terms be a clever pass in the event that they re-sign him because of fact texas could nevertheless be paying a number of that conract, yet whilst he opts out, how can the yankees pay him 30 Million. they are attempting to renounce him precise now, because of fact he's their capability source, and face it, he is going to be the homerun king on the top of his occupation. Mo is on the ingredient of the top of the line and Posada isn't getting any youthful, yet i won't be able to work out the two fidgeting with yet another team, so in the event that they get arod, they'll prob attempt and get rivera and posada in the offseason, whether it style of feels precise now they simply want arod.

Because in 4 years he is going to be old, very old. He will be 42 in 4 years. His era was already 3.15 last year which is horrific for a closer. His velocity will go down and he is going to get hit and his pitches are going to move less because his arm is going to slow down. If you look at his year stats they are going down every year. In the last 5 years his saves where 2004 53, 2005 43, 2006 34, and in 2007 he had 30 saves. His saves are significantly going south. Thats why they don't want him for 4 years.

Rivera will not sign with the Yanks, and that will influence Pettite's decision
