I was on the forum and came across a post where a user was asking how come our info from YA is appearing on sites we didn't sign up for. I googled my user name and found loads of sites where my Q and A's , profile info and username are being used.

and more. Not really happy myself that this info is appearing elsewhere.

They have an open API ......

Meaning they could parse through the data using a search query and export those results in XML, JSON, PHP....hence giving you the ability to insert them into these Blogs your finding your questions in.

Edit: I wouldn't worry about personal information being extracted out, if that is the case. I am sure most of you have Facebook accounts, they as well have open API's for people to develop applications for that site...thats what Yahoo is promoting here as well. http://gallery.yahoo.com/

API stands for application programming interface.....I am sure you don't need me to explain what is.

No Problems andygurl..... =)

WOW! That is REALLY interesting! I need to google my name! I found mine on sites too! I can't believe this. I am not very happy with it either. I think we should do something about this. We signed up for Yahoo! Answers not all of the other websites in the world!

I think it's actually about after you pick a best answer or what not this becomes property of Yahoo so they can use it... but I'm not completely sure

Omg...this is so weird. Even I didn't know that other websites were allowed to take all this info.

I'm really not happy about this either.
