Shouldn’t more of you volunteer – after all; this unnecessary war of choice was your idea?

For the “they volunteered” crowd –
Thanks for proving that you not only do not care about the troops – you do not even care that you do not care.
They volunteered to defend to the nation and protect the US Constitution – and Iraq was never a threat (and did not threaten) to either.

According the Congressional 9/11 and Prewar Intelligence Reports:
1. There were no terrorists in Iraq before Bush invaded;
2. Hussein did not allow terrorist training camps;
3. Hussein hated al Qaeda before we did;
4. Hussein did not hide al-Zarqawi, he tried to have him arrested, and of course
5. no WMDs or involvement with 9/11.

Invading Iraq was a stupid idea doomed to failure. Every non-partisan Middle East expert in the world predicted that the most likely outcome of invading Iraq would be a civil war and regional destabilization. Actually, anyone with the slightest real knowledge of the region knew this to be true.
The President’s own father knew it and said so in his 1998 book, ‘A World Transformed’. Colin Powell (then Secretary of State) told Dubya, “If you break it [Iraq], then you own it”. The first Gulf War commander "Stormin" Norman Schwarzkopf knew it, saying that if America invaded Iraq it would be a, “dinosaur in a tar pit”.
Recent reports by the US Department of State and a consensus of America’s 16 Intelligence Agencies both conclude that Americans are less safe and less secure than they were before 9/11.

Had there been a military draft in effect, this improper use of our forces would have ended long ago – if it ever got off the ground in the first place.
PS – my brother-in-law is retired but now has a civilian gig at Anacostia Naval Station.
Cheers

Their goal is the destruction of our fathers’ —and the Founding Fathers’— nation. They are like the scared and mean-spirited little kid in the school yard that is always encouraging the bully to beat someone up. They get off on the violence, pain, and suffering; but have no stomach for it themselves.

Millions? Really? There were only 25 million Iraqis to start with. And if you are referring to instances like the gasing of the Kurds in 1988; well, that was with WMDs supplied to Hussein by the Reagan Administration (remember those lovey-dovey photos of Saddam and Rumsfeld?).
In any case, Bush’s body count of dead Iraqis is rapidly closing in on Hussein’s.
Further, the UN estimates that over 4 million Iraqis have been displaced by violence in their country, the vast majority of which have fled since 2003. Over 2.2 million have vacated their homes for safer areas within Iraq, 1.5 million are now living in Syria, and over 1 million refugees inhabit Jordan, Iran, Egypt, Lebanon, Yemen, and Turkey.

40% of middle class believed to have fled crumbling nation;
About 50,000 Iraqis are fleeing inside Iraq each month.
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2007/01/16/MNG2MNJBIS1.DTL
Thousands of Iraqis, many hunted as traitors because they assisted America’s war effort, are finding the bridge to safety blocked.
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/09/19/opinion/19wed2.html
Yet the United States has allowed only 466 Iraqis to immigrate under refugee status since 2003 -- including 202 out of 70,000 slots for refugees last year.
Your compassionate conservatism is showing.

What volunteer group would you recommend ? Which ones are you a member of? Are there any that support the families of the millions of Iraqis that were murdered and tortured under Sadam"s reign. Really, I'm interested in which groups you volunteer in and recommend?

I think this says a lot more about how we are raising our children.
I had my first job at 14, and still made good grades in school.
There are many kids now that have no responsibility and do not even have to take out the trash.
My guess is that is not only is that war, it is the self indulgent children that we are raising in America.

Excuse me, but as i recall quite a few Democrats voted to send our troops into combat. And it was a Democratic party resolution that called for Saddam's removal. I understand that the truth is not a liberal's long suit but you could at least check the facts before you slander anyone.

And this has to do with the NeoCons how?
Same situation under Johnson, and he was a democrat, so I fail to see the correlation between the Party in the Oval Office and these points you bring up...
........................... WAIT !!!!!!!!!!!!! .......................
i see the correlation. Under Bush and under Johnson, the public were both vehemontly against the war and bed-wetting liberals such as yourself are responsible for these problems affliciting our vets.
'nuff said.
