Because the purpose of the global warming movement is to create world-wide communism, in which a One World Government of international bureaucrats runs everything. They want to destroy the capitlalist economies of the US and Europe. They are not interested in protecting the environment.

By the way, notice how environmentalists FABRICATE statistics. You will hear statistics about how much energy the USA uses. If you trace these back to their source you will discover that there IS no source. They are fabricated.

Jack Stone is right. The poster that claims we use 80 plus million barrels a day is way off. The Kyoto Treaty would have punished America for being an industrial nation and allowed Mexico and China to use as much energy as they wanted. This link may help you on how much oil we actually use a day. There are 42 gallons to a barrel.

China produces about the same Carbon Output as the US - but with four times as many people.
Developed countries produce substantially more greenhouse gasses per capita than developing countries and are in a better position to lead the change without significant impact on the economy.
The US is supposed to be a world leader, this is a global issue and we should be taking the lead rather than trying to pass the buck to those with less ability to do so.

I don't think they're in favor of it... and I think I've heard several speak out against it...

but that's about all the UN is good for...

and frankly... I don't want to give them an army to enfore their ideas anyway... do you?

it is what it is... the UN is a place for everyone to talk... and little more

Because the UN can't do anything, but pass resolution after resolution, in hopes that the US at some point will step in and do something about it.

The UN is ineffective and should be abolished.
