I bought a '05 Harley Ultra Classic and in making trips of over 100 miles I found out the stock seat is about as comfortable as a bed full of cracked walnut shells.

Anyone have any experience with an aftermarket replacement seat that's comfortable? Any recommendations on a seat that would be comfortable for my bony behind?

I've used Corbin, and saddlemen in the past, both great seats, also Harley Davidson offers some great replacment seats for your bike. My suggestion... Have a look around and see who's got what. Sit on a few, try them on so to speak. Also, look in the myriad of aftermarket and HD's own parts catalogs.

"Mustang" brand "pillow" seats are very comfy. As are Corbin and many others. I agree that the stock seats leave a lot to be desired, I go mustang on all my bikes. Also, I found a really great idea for long rides is one of the sheepskin covered Gel Pads. Man, it's like riding your couch down the highway at 80MPH. I'm talking comfort here!!

I have heard very good reports on both Mustang and Saddlemen seats.

My own taste is a little strange.
I put a Corbin-Gentry police style solo with 3 inch springs on my '06 Superglide. While it totally changed the seating position, it is very comfortable under my bony backside.

You recieved a good answer, and that was Mustang. They have the most comfortable seats. Take a look and go to a local store that may have some. The Mustang seat is the most comfortable.....

I really like Le Pera seats. Be aware that the most comfortable seats are often the least attractive.

Also, the position of your bars( and the rise and pull back) as well as the position and type of pegs/floorboards all effect your azss.

I made my own by cutting down the foam, and the pan
covered with good leather, and of course chrome buttons.
I'm short, so factory seats just didnt fit. it still looks great.

there are gel seats and pads in all the catalogs, but sheep skins are great too.
J&p Cycle has the best selection, but try 1 out at your local shop before u buy

I like Le Pera seats. I don't know how their touring seats are but I use their solo seats on about everything and really like the feel and comfort even on long rides.

Corbin makes a nice seat for the ultras. Le Pera aren't bad either. I use a sheep skin for my ride got it at a rally. its a god send on long hauls. its soft and soaks up sweat and is quit inexpensive. good luck with your search. try looking at J&P cataloge or pick up a bagger magazine that should get u rolling in the right direction.

Think about trying the airhawk first its cheaper than replacing the seat (think of it as sitting on a air mattress) I have talked to customers that swear by them.
