I put my son in a crib at 3 weeks old. The only reason he was in a bassinet in the first place was because I didn't have the crib ready when he came.

It doesn't really matter. It's up to the parents. There isn't one age when a child has to be in a crib. Some parents wait until the child is ready for a bed. Some parents put their children in the crib from day one. It depends on that parents comfort level as to where and how their child sleeps. Personally, I felt it was safer for me to have my child in the crib from day one. However, it was my first child and I was really scared.

I kept all of my kids in bed with me until they could crawl out. My daughter is 4 1/2 months old and still in my bed, when she starts crawling she'll go into the crib right next to my bed. If your baby is in a bassinet I'd say to put him/her in the crib when they can crawl or pull themselves up or when they are over the weight limit ( I never had one so I'm not sure about that). If the baby is in your bed I'd just say to keep him/her there as long as it's safe. btw I never had a problem transitioning my kids from my bed to the crib, so don't worry about that.

My youngest slept with her father and I until she was about 6 months old than we moved her to a crib in the same room because we had a really small apartment and the other room had her other sisters in it.

She's now 15 and doing great with her own friends and great in school for those who think that having a child sleep with the parents causes to much dependence. There are a lot of countries where that is the norm and those kids grow up ok also.

Mine is 4 months old and has been sleeping either on his stomach or back in his own crib since he was about 2 months old.

Good luck with the baby!!!

As soon as you can get him into it. My daughter was with me until 6 mo cause i did not have a crib, but my son was literally about 5 days old. You do not start off really soon you will have a hard time transitioning your baby later on.

As soon as they are big enough not to fall through the bars. A baby can sleep in a bassinet while it is real small. It should not sleep with you. You might accidentally roll over on it.They can get hurt badly like this, Even smothered to death. Don't want to scare you but that is what I read. The only time my son slept in our bed is if I was laying there reading a book. I kept his bassinet right next to the bed though. When I was asleep, the tiniest noise from him would awaken me. I miss those days.

when ever you feel the baby should, I have knowen people that have baby sleep in the crib from the day they bring baby home, and other that like the baby to sleep in a bassinet for the first few months. ITs all up to you though.

When my oldest was an infant, they said you should have your infant in their crib by 4 months. His crib was in my room, close to me, and I did just that. I never had to phase him from my bed, it worked perfectly. I used this age for my other two sons also. Hope I've helped. Best of luck!
