for me personally, it's been a positive. for my family, they only see it as negative. they don't understand it and even trying to restrict my time. i'm 23! i follow their rules but online rules? really? this is sucking.

yeah, i violated their rule today too. i don't care. it was a ridiculous rule to start with. i would be miserable without yahoo answers and my special somebody. they're pissed and i'm buzzed. we'll see what tomorrow brings because i'm almost positive they are going to try and enforce this stupid rule. probably take away my laptop. i'm dreading it.

its a positive for a couple reasons......
1) it gives me something to do at work so I'm not unbelievably bored all day =)
2)i met (not physically) some really amazing people on here that make me laugh and keep a smile on my face!
3)i know if i have a serious question, i can ask almost anyone of my contacts and they will help me the best they can!!! Oh and their humor is awesome!!!
there is only one negative thing about it........some people on here make such an impact on me and ill prob never get to meet them!

It's a somewhat positive influence. Once, I asked a question when I had a problem with my Yahoo! Mail, and the best answer had me alerting the staff and the got the problem fixed.
How does your family view Answers as a negative experience. Ask them. Maybe you spend too much time on here, and don't pay enough attention to your family. If that's the case, I would compromise one hour during the day and one hour after dinner. If that doesn't please them, and they're still on you regardless... well, how much do you make at a job, if you have one? I'd consider saving up as much money as possible and finding an apartment.

I have met some very interesting people here, you being one of them. Overall, I must say it has been positive. Yes, I spend a lot of time on here, but I used to spend a lot of time online before I was on answers.
And LOL about your family trying to set rules on internet use. My mom and sister were actually plotting to get my dsl disconnected! The witches. The thing is though, I pay for it and it's under my name, so they really couldn't do anything about it!

I think it's been a very positive thing in my life. My friends think it's stupid and immature. And I'm 45! I agree, online rules are incredibly stupid. I've *met* some great people here.

Yahoo Answers can be fun and educational, especially for youngsters... It can help with typing and reading... plus, interaction... That is a positive thing.

Both. It almost caused me to get a divorce. But I've learned from my mistakes and have learned to express my feelings more forcefully to my husband. Good thing is it caused him to focus on me more then his stupid friends.
