This program is for everyone to help needy kids all around the world. Are you doing what you can?

Just thought I would add the fact that I am one of the people who is donating my time and effort to pickup and dropoff all these shoeboxes from dropoff and collection sites and they are all Christian churches and ministries. What are all the other non-Christian organizations doing to really help children in the third world countries. Im talking about tens of thousands of donations coming in from my little corner of the world. Rural western NY state. Millions nationwide.

I put together ten boxes this year. By the way, if anyone is still trying to put boxes together, PLEASE make teenage boxes. The 10-14 year olds get the fewest boxes. Don't stress about what to buy them! School supplies, hygiene items, small games and puzzles, and personal items (sun glasses, flip flops and even non-liquid make up is allowed) are just a few such options.

Skip eating out one night - make a box instead!

I LOVE this program. I started doing it 4 years ago, and have worked up to where I fill six boxes per year, plus donate time helping my church with their aspect of the program. As the years have gone by, I've gotten so much better at packing! First, I always get the big boot boxes, because they hold more items. As for items, sometimes it's fun to theme them. For example, last year I themed the 2-4 year old boy's with Thomas and Friends (the little train), and purchased a complete track with two trains and accessories. Battery operated things are okay if you include extra batteries, so I bought a huge pack of double A's, and based on their average life, figured they would last him at least a year. Then, to go along with this theme, I got matching crayons and a coloring book, and then threw in some candy, hygiene products and a couple of other small toys. Other things I've used or am using this year are: individual Lego packs (they come in small boxes and include a little person with accessories), playdoh sets, dolls, jump ropes, backpacks, paper, pens, pencils, hard candy, toy trucks/cars, games (like Jenga), etc. Good luck!

Me and my mom just made two operation christmas child boxes, we made one for a little boy ages 5-9 and one for a girl ages 10-14 we wanted them close to me and my brothers age so we would know all the right things to pick out. I got the girl the cutest things, we also got her a bunch of suckers, you should see the giant Candy Cane! On Sunday me and my mom are dropping every box that the people at my church made off at another church so they can take them to hte place where they are needed to be taken to be given out! I definetly enjoy giving especially when it's such a good cause like this, it makes me happy to know that even underprivleged children get a Happy Christmas!

I participated in this great program last year. This year I was not able to locate a local church that was participating. I had fun stuffing the shoe boxes for the kids!

I'm in a different program. In my program we make Christmas cards and send them to people who will be in the hospital for the holidays.
