If I were to answer your question, I would need to know a few things. Why do you both want to abstain from sex? Or do just one of you want to abstain? What makes you think that this is the right course of action? Why not just "test the waters" and have sex?
I ask these questions assuming that your desire to not have sex is based from a religious perspective. I respect that very much. But if you both are not fully comitted to waiting, then it will be hard for either of you to control yourselves.
Sleeping with someone you are attracted do, someone you plan to marry, and NOT have sex with them... well, temptation will give way. You will play mental games like, "well, we will just snuggle". That turns into, "we'll just kiss a bit". That will lead to - pardon the direct nature of this response - dry humping and then full insertion sex.
So much for waiting for marriage.
If you really want to be true to your partner, true to your faith and true to yourself, you will avoid this obvious temptation and wait till marriage.

Of course its possible - you just both have to have self control. I think it's neat you want to stay abstinent until marriage, but why? I used to believe that as well, but if you love each other and plan on getting married do you really want your wedding night to suck? Trust me -the more you do it the better you become at it -especially when you learn about what turns each other on. Do what you feel is best and if you really want to wait, then good for you - just got to practice lots of self control.
