Factor? Well, things that upset most teens.
Usually gossip at school, maybe even bullies or friends. Being denied something they had their heart set on, feeling alone, apart from the world, thinking their parents hate them due to tones/auras in the household.

Things like that. Usually the enviorment they live in.

Insanity is a very strong word. Don't you mean what affects their sanity?

A lot does. Family home life ranks at the top of the list. If they live in a dangerous, abusive, dysfunctional family they may eventually have some problems. No surprise.

The idea that all teens are insane. Putting pressure on them and labeling them doesn't make it better. While there are definite shifts in mood, behavior, self-image, self-esteem, and hormones, adolescence doesn't need to be an inherently negative time.
