How can liberals not see that there's a huge liberal bias in the mainstream media?

It's sooooo obvious to me.

The only bias they see is the one on Fox. Why do you think they are pushing the "Fairness Doctrine". Of course they will see no compelling reason to monitor the MSM for fairness.

What seems to be forgotten in these discussions is that if you are a conservative, you see a liberal bias in the media. If you are a liberal, you see a conservative one.

Here is my theory:
To some degree it depends on the media and the market. We are not a conservative OR a liberal nation per se. We are a mix, and the media reflects that.
So, anyone w/ a particular agenda can point to numerous examples that support that view.

The kicker is how we interpret the grey areas.
When a piece of evidence is ambiguous, we will interpret it in light of our views. We have a natural tendency to avoid cognizant dissonance, and this is one way we do it.

So, if you are a con you take the truly liberal examples, add some ambiguous data that you interpret to support your view and the aggregate seems like a liberal bias.
I think the same is true when looked at from the liberal pov.
Again - just my opinion.

A liberal media would have questioned WMDs in Iraq.
A liberal media would have been showing Iraqi women and children by the thousands with their limbs blown off in the Iraq War.
The "liberal" media never questioned this administration until after the 2004 elections.

I agree with the first poster. It seems to me that conservatives would only be happy with some sort of "rah rah USA USA!!!" channel (hence the reason why FOX News is their favorite channel). Believe me, I don't even bother watching mainstream news anymore because it's such a non-player on the actual news market. It's probably the one thing you and I can agree on.

And please, don't act like you're revealing some great conspiracy by directing us to a bunch of right-wing websites. Apparently, it's not bias that you have a problem with, but whose bias you think it is.

The only real MSM bias is for the corp media to protect the facist govt!!!!!!! This left/right crap is just a distraction that most of the sheep follow!!!!

For some conservatives, reality has a liberal bias. Remember these media are owned by corporations, for the most part.
They sell air time to sponsors - who can pull their adds if they don't like the programming . I am not convinced by you links. Who is to say THEY'RE not biased too?
