While no system is perfect, one thing is obvious...Socialized medicine (government run medicine) has failed humanity at every turn. Educate yourselves. Look at Canada. Look at our European friends......They fly all over the world for proper healthcare (the ones that can afford to finance all of that traveling)....The rest stay behind, waiting and waiting for their government to help them.....Again, if this concept is new to you, please ! Educate yourself !

National health care systems have worked and continue to work well in many countries and they have for a long time. The UK system has been in place since shortly after WW II as have many throughout Europe. The US ranks well behind many countries in terms of average life span, also the US is near the bottom in infant mortality rates, and the US has the highest cost for health care per individual of any industrialized country. The claim many use in the US that we have the best health care in the world is surely not backed up by the statistics. As far as the wealthy travel ling all over the world seeking health care, that will always be the case but comparing what the wealthiest 10% of people do to normal everyday people is ridiculous. I have many friends in Canada that are extremely satisifed with their nations health care system, and they use to live in the US so they have experienced both.

the rich ones fly all over for special medical care beyond the normal health care most people get. The vast majority of Canadians and Europeans are perfectly happy with their "socialized" medicine, and they are amazed we haven't caught on, yet. Their per-person medical expenditures are lower than ours, but the care covers everyone. After spending some time in Europe as a student, then an administrator for a college program there, I can say with no reservations, they are perfectly healthy, have whatever medical care they need in state-of-the-art facilities...once in a while they have to wait a while for a non critical treatment, but they are better educated than Americans on the whole and more sophisticated in their view of life and would not put up with a system that did not work.

Well in the USA you can get insurance for a single person for $60.00 a month, but!!!!!!
Its a pass to the doctor or emergency room, if your bill totals lets say $1500.00 at the emergency room, well you insurance pays 80%, BUT. The insurance company only allows $150.00 for that treatment and they pay 80% = $120.00 and you pay $1380.00, well you can't pay because you lost your job, for lack of work and you got sick again and went to the emergency room, they ran your card through they system and found it to be expired and throw you out. Now what it this person was your father / mother, grandmother, son, daughter, well I guess waiting is still better than having nothing, but why am I tell you this you hate your grandparents

If you think I'm a fool you you should understand what I think of you

You're incorrect in your statement that Europeans and Canadians would voluntarily retreat from universal coverage in favor of a for-profit system.

So some of them fly around for treatment elsewhere...Americans go elsewhere for treatment all the time, to Mexico, Switzerland, India...

Why? Because a procedure that costs $15,000 here might well only cost $1200 in India.

You really should research the issue more. Your statistics bear no relation to the World Health Organization's report this year that said that Americans pay about twice as much as anybody else in the world for care that is ranked about 28th.

Sorry-no one is listening to you.

Is socialized medicine a good choice? NO.

But ideological rants and political slogans will not solve America's health care crisis. And right now--the only ideas on the table are coming from liberals.

So--when it coes time to put policies into practice, its going to move toward socialized medicine. Not because there aren't better options--there are. But because, instead of addressing the issues with policy suggestions, the right is offering nothing but ideology.

So--enjoy the rants, the slogans. Maybe the right can make a political speech while they're waiting for the bureaucrats to admit them into the socialized hospital they are creating--by NOT addressing the issues.

When the time comes for reform, it will be based on the alternatives that are offered. And right now--there are none from the conservative side. So the liberals win by default.

There are so many things wrong with your question I don't know where to start. First, the government in not planning on running healthcare. They are planning on giving people the means to afford it. Second, even if the stimulus has failed, which it hasn't, that does not mean another government plan would also fail.

You're wrong. All industrialized nations on earth except for the U.S. have socialized medicine or socialized medical insurance. Their results are superior to ours in almost every case.

1.The working class Dem. just want it to work because it is a feel good thing and they don't want & will not allow facts to get in the way. It also help to ease the guilt they have for having all the things that they have worked hard for.
2. The non working class Dem. feel it is owe to them because everything we have we got by takeing it from them or by keeping them down. And they never plan to be tax players so it will never cost them anything.
3. The Power Dem. know that it will give them more power, take more of our money & freedom from us making more & more dependent on the govt. They will have the money where they can get "real health care" and will never have to use the govt program that they will force on the rest of us.
It has never been about Healthcare just as when the Left say it is about the children it is never about the children.

Your right the Canadian system doesn't work. That's why Americans try to go to Canada to get there drugs. Oh but the American government had to stop that because American drug companies were loosing profits. We are constantly told what a crappy system the rest of the world has. Makes me wonder why the rest of the world isn't complaining about there health care and we are. Maybe our system is the crappy one. Maybe it's rationing by money and not by need. Let the poor die who cares right.

Why cant none of you realize that the goverment WILL NOT RUN HEALTHCARE JUST PAY FOR IT, you people are either idiots or hardcore cool aid drinkers, single payer healthcare works. all of your congressman and senators that are staunchly against this are on GOVERMENT SPONCERED HEALCARE AS WELL AS ALL OTHER GOVERMENT EMPLOYEES LIKE MAIL CARRIERS, and I dont see any of them dying or waiting in line six hours or all those other misconceptions you throw out . ITs simple instead of lining the pockets of crocked for profit big insurance companies we roll back the tax cuts for the wealthiest 1 percent and that itself will fund healthcare for everyone, edit, thanks for the luck , although I think the republicans will need it more tahn me if they have a shot at the upcomming election as for your laughter I don't see what's funny every think I wrote about is true. I know it makes more sence for me to be a democrat than a republican because republicans dont care about the middle class just the weathly and the mulitnational corp. they claim to want smaller goverment this is 100 percent true they just want to privitize parts of the goverment to those same mulitnational corporations for profit, Ill stop now I could talk all day about this
