I think that your synopsis is most hazy in the middle! The British didn't colonise Palestine and they didn't simply hand it back in 1948 to the Jews. Perhaps the following can clear this up a little (it is a very complex topic!)

Palestine is a geographical area. It is not and has never been a nation as such. The area has been ruled by various empires and powers (for example, the Babylonian, Persian, Greek and Roman Empires) but more recently it was under Ottoman rule until the end of WWI. WWI of course saw the defeat and break up of the Ottoman Empire. The vast areas it had ruled, including the Middle East, was divided up into mandates between France and Britain (for more on how and why this occurred, see the Sykes-Picot agreement of 1916). A mandate is a commission by the League of Nations to administer a territory until that territory is ready to act independently (a grossly Euro-centric and arrogant notion, I know).

Britain controlled the Palestinian Mandate, an area that actually included most of modern-day Jordan, Israel, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. The British remained in control until Jordanian independence in 1946 and the creation of Israel in 1948.

During this time, many promises were made concerning the futures of these lands, most famously the Balfour Declaration (1917) in which a promise was made to create a homeland for the Jews in the area we now know as Israel. While the atrocities of the Holocaust are a factor in the European support of the creation of Israel, you note that the Balfour Declaration significantly predates WW2.

There is naturally much controversy surrounding the Balfour Declaration (and its subsequent modification by the Churchill White Paper of 1922 which still supported the right of Jews to settle in the area but seemed hesitant about the actual numbers to be allowed - a policy that would have terrible consequences during the 1930s when 1000s of Jews tried to flee Europe and were denied entry to Palestinian ports) but there is so little room here to discuss all aspects. However, I feel that these points clarify some of the key issues in the lead up to the creation of Israel that you were perhaps missing in your original summation above.

What happened was the Roman Empire conquered Israel and to humilate the Jews they named it Palestine, after the people who were Israels great enemy at one time. Rome kicked the Jews out after a long rebellion.

Zionist movement was formed with the belief that Jews should return to Israel.

Your so called history is seriously flawed. I suggest you read a few good unbiased books about the subject.
Forget the biblical stuff . The bible is not history
