ok, i am just going to start off with the general idea in case ppl dont want to read any further.....this question is about a problem with my vagina. i am not sexually active at all and am still a virgin. I have done nothing dirty and have never participated in oral or anal intercourse. yesterday, i went to the bathroom and wiped and noticed a bit of blood.....i thought it was my period. it turned out not to be. i have a small bump on my labia and it was bleeding slightly. at first i freaked cuz i thought i had a disease, but then i checked online and have none of the symptoms of all the common STDs. just a bump the size of the eraser on a pencil, that happened to be bleeding. does anyone have any idea what it could be? maybe from a public restroom? ingrown hair? i also thought it could be folliculitis. should i give it a few more days to see what happens?

It sounds very much like a small cyst, or pimple. They happen and it's not necessarily from anything you did or didn't do. Your body walls off infections, which does create a small lump under the skin. It then pushes the whole mess to the surface where it can drain. The labia isn't particularly well wired for a lot of feeling, so you could well not have noticed it happening. It was probably very close to draining itself and you finished the job with the paper wipe. Since the skin was broken, you would see a small amount of blood. You don't need to do anything special for it, although you can soak in a hot tub of water to encourage it to drain completely, and you can gently squeeze it to empty it if you like. That might be a bit painful, so keep that in mind in your choice. Take care that your undies elastic isn't going to rub it, and try to avoid pantyhose and tight pants while it's healing up. If it doesn't go away with the hot soaks in a few days, then it will be a good idea to have the doctor have a peek. There is also the possibility it is a Bartholins gland cyst, and sometimes those benefit from antibiotics. They aren't anything serious, and don't suggest you have done anything, so don't be afraid of what anyone will think.

Everything you mentioned are all possibilities. Is it possible that maybe you scratched your self while showering, sleeping or going to the bathroom? I have done that before and didn't realize it for a few days, until it got irritated. Try soaking a washcloth in warm (as warm as you can stand it) water and epsom salts (or just water) and use that to apply like a heat pack a couple times a day for 10-20 minutes each time. If it's a pimple, ingrown hair or cyst, the heat should bring it up. If after a couple of day's it's still there, I would go to a doctor. It's very possible to catch stuff off of public toilets, and you could have caught an infection.

This isn't an STD. It's a pimple. That's all. It was already a white head and it popped when you wiped yourself. It happens don't worry. Just wash and dry the area and you can put an antibiotic cream on it. The ones you use on a cut. If you have increase swelling or extreme pain then call your doctor. It is disturbing the first time you find this. But it isn't a serious problem. Hope this helps.

it sounds like a pimple from maybe an ingrown hair. we all get em. sometimes they bleed. been there done that. they suck too. you should be fine. give it awhile and see if it goes away. if not then it might be a good idea to get looked at. i dont think you will need to worry.

Ingrown hair or pimple are the most likely culprits. Make an appointment with your OBGYN to make sure. Better safe than sorry.

In order to assess the situation you should see an OB/GYN. It could be a simple ingrown hair or irritation.

It sounds like in grown hair. Dont bother it or pick just leave it alone. The bleeding is normal.
