It is not to likely it will do any harm, if you add much more than that it will cause aeration (put air into the oil) and cause the engine bearing to burn or wear down, it don't sound like to much just don't add any more. God Bless

Like Country Boy said, if the oil pan is too full, the crankshaft can come into contact with the oil and create foam. Additionally, the car loses power and thus fuel mileage because the engine has to work that much harder to spin the crankshaft as it drags through the oil. I would recommend buying a suction device (they sell them at any auto parts store) and you can siphon some oil out of the pan to the correct level. This way you don't have to empty the oil pan and refill it to the correct level.

None in your case. Usually a quart or more will cause a foaming , whipped type condition which can cause a type of back pressure condition internally in the engine oil lubrication system similar like what happens in a washing machine when too much soap has been added. If in doubt, drain to the proper level.

It would be best to have it drained to the proper level. That way, you would be sure of not doing any damage. Excess oil can cause higher pressure. It sounds like you have about a quart over what should be there. Much better safe than sorry.

If the counter weights on the crankshaft touch the excess oil it Will whip into whip cream. The oil will contain zillions of air bubbles and the oil pump will supply that mess to your main, rod and cam bearings. Oil filed with air does not lubricate worth a hoot. You may be perfectly OK but I'm a worry wart Why not slowly drain off at least a pint when the motors cold by just cracking open the drain cap screw in the bottom side of the oil pan.

Good grief! Why did you put that in the 1st place. I have a 94 Pontiac Grand Prix and never put such stuff on the engine. Does not smoke and still running at factory parameters after 160,000+ miles. Drain some out, it can foam on you and will mess the engine up. And do not put that crap again in the engine and god forbid STP ! Do your maintenance according to the owner's manual and you will be safe.

if you put too much oil the harm will be the oil seals... because when the engine running will generate a air pressure to the engine then the seal will push by excessive oil... before you change oil tell to the mechanic that you put additives oil...

It's possible that it wont hurt anything. But it could create leaks that you dont want it would be best to drain a little out rechecking your dipstick to get it within the proper marks. Just for safety drain some. Less headaches that way.

none, the shop added a bit too much oil to my car, and they said it would be fine as long as it isn't a whole extra quart.
