Since highlights aren't applied directly to the scalp, the chemicals are significantly less likely to enter your bloodstream.

So yes you can get highlights, i am.

There is no proof either way of if it is dangerous to dye your hair or not. The main issue that people have with it is the fumes, so as long as you are in a well ventilated area you should be alright, its a matter of personal opinion. You should not, however, get a perm or get your hair chemically straightened or relaxed at all during pregnancy. Another big issue with dying your hair is even if you've done it before the same colour, the hormones in your body change so the colour won't always show up the way you expect! I dyed my hair black *or tried to anyways!*, and it turned out bright blue!!! So you just have to be comfortable with it on your own. Highlights aren't even touching your scalp though, so that should be alright. Its only dying your dead hair and not touching your skin at all. Just remember to be in an open area and while it sets if you are getting it professionally done, take that time to go outside and get some fresh air while you wait for it.

There hasn't been any solid proof of actually harming the baby. Although as I tell everyone if you have concerns ask your doctor on the next visit. I have colored my hair twice now during pregnancy and once when I was pregnant with my first born. Things turned out quite normal, so I would personally say there isn't anything that will harm you. JUST make sure you are in a well vented area when you are getting your hair done though, the fumes may cause you to get quite lightheaded! Good Luck!

C all those dumb *** people who say no! Have NO idea what they are talking about!!! I'm telling you right now, they need to be educated! Of caurse you can! Do whatever makes you feel good inside! How can something on your head effect the baby in your tummy!?! As long as you are in a well ventilated area while getting any kind of chemical treatment, you and your baby will be fine! When i was pregnent with my 4 year old daughter, i went every week to get my nails done, acrilic at that. Sometimes sitting there for more then an hour at a time. And she was just as healthy as the baby next door. Disregared all that nonsence, and make your self feel wounderful, and beautiful. : )

No one has enough information to promise with certainty that using chemical dyes during pregnancy is completely safe, so many pregnant women wait until after the first trimester. At the same time, no one has any human data to show these chemicals cause birth defects.
Clearly, the chemicals in both permanent and semi-permanent hair dyes are not highly toxic. These chemicals have been around a long time, and no research shows they cause defects in newborns, so colouring your hair during pregnancy is probably safe. Plus, if you apply the dyes safely (using gloves in a well-ventilated room, and not leaving solutions on for excessive periods of time), you don't really absorb much of the chemicals into your system.

Yes.... I did when I was pregnant and my daughter came out perfect! 8 lbs. 2 oz... healthy!! My beautician said " the dye doesn't really even get completely to the roots of your hair when highlighting (through a cap) and also it doesn't soak through your scalp... into your blood...etc.) So, I would go ahead with it!

Yes.

Heavy bleaching of entire head of hair several times during pregnancy is not recommended. Highlighting is primarily the strands of hair and not full scalp.
