Angle was actually a main eventer in the WWE before he went to TNA. ECW was built around him when it started. Booker was also a main eventer in the WWE and the last King of the Ring. Christian was one of the few on Raw that could cut a decent promo. The Dudleyz were a top tag team in the WWE until WWE creative decided to split them up then ruined their singles push with lame angles. The same goes with Gunn and The Road Dogg. So why call them "rejects?" I am sure that the WWE would gladly welcome any of them back in the future. If Hogan can come back to the WWE, then anyone can.

Angle, Booker, and Christian were not fired. They quit. Angle asked for his release because he felt creative did not have a plan for him and he was burnt out. Booker flat refused to come back after he was suspended, even after the WWE tried to persuade him (and Ric Flair) to come back, per Jim Ross' blog that he writes on wwe.com. Christian's contract expired and he also felt that the WWE did not have anything to offer him.
The Dudleyz were let go, but not because they were bad, but because the WWE had a shortage of tag teams for them to feud with.
