I have a 32 degree curve in my lower back when. I have to wear a brace when I sleep. It was very uncomfertable at first , but now it's more comfortable. The doctor recently said it was better looking than normal for people. Does anyone else have scoliosis? How long did it take you to get used to it? I had really bad pains from the seams of my clothes going into my leg, but know I wear all seamless clothes.

Having scoliosis is a very difficult thing to adjust to but I applaud you b/c it sounds like you are accepting it well. As far as how long it takes to get used to it, its different for everyone but from how your post sounds, I think you are a trooper and are going to do just fine. I do have scoliosis but my curve is less than 10 degrees so i didn't have to brace...mine is more postural related and not that severe.

I pray your spine straightens quickly and again, I am very proud that you are talking about it.

I had scoliosis since 5th grade. I regretably never let my mom take me to the doctor for it because I didnt want to wear a brace and I enduced alot of back pain because of it. I just recently (11 months ago) had the posterior fusion surgery and it corrected my back 100%. It is definately worth it because I look completely normal now - except for the scar doing down the entire length of my back but even thats almost disappeared so yay!

I was told long ago that I have scoliosis, but it must not be that bad because I am now 43 and have never had to wear a brace. My step-niece had a very bad curvature to her spine and had to wear a brace for many years until she had surgery to correct hers. Again, hers was very bad. I'm sure yours can be corrected through the use of braces. Best wishes!

Yeah, my twin sister has scoliosis, luckily i dont. But she has to do physical therapy so she goes to this place where she excersizes her back and stuff. She has to sit on one of those big bouncy plastic balls filled with air when she's at her desk at home but obviously at school she doesn't. Hers isn't that serious so she's gotten used to it pretty quickly. And she doesn't have to wear a brace or anything.
