3(x+6)-2=4(x+2)-21
3x + 18 - 2 = 4x + 8 -21
3x + 16 = 4x -13
3x - 4x = -13 -16
-x = -29
x = 29

3(x+6)-2=4(x+2)-21
3x+18-2=4x+8-21
**3x+16=4x-13
29=1x
Divede both sides by one and you get x=29
**This step you move the -13 over to the +16 but you change the sign of the -13 and then you add it and get 29 and you move the 3x over to the 4x but you change the side of the 3x to a negavite and you get the next row of what I have. Whatever the sign is and you move it to the another side of the equal sign it ALWAYS changes its sign.
You can even plug it back in to find out if it was right.
I hope this helps.
