I think devoting time to the elderly by visiting them, reading to them or just listening to what they have to say would be wonderful.

I don't understand this question...the "devoting time through empathy" part. It doesn't make sense. You can only empathize with someone when you have experienced much of what they have gone through. So...if you are not a "seasoned" individual it would make it almost impossible to empathize with an elderly person...you just haven't experienced what they have. You could sympathize with them but that carries a very different connotation. I do think that spending time with and elderly person that you enjoy is a great thing to do. Just be a friend to your elderly acquaintance. Remember that they are not another species, they are just an older version of you....

Yes, it's always good to help other people. You can offer to help those in your neighborhood or you could volunteer at the local nursing home or senior center. They would appreciate it very much.

I know what you mean and I'm not word perfect, Sharing loving,giving, is what we have been given to us by god himself. How we use it is up to each person.
