if you have ever visited the south you would understand, it's that warmth that we southerners radiate towards our guests, where you automatically feel like your at home when you come into our house. when we cook you a damn good dinner, offer you a room to sleep in, and the shirt off our back, not to mention a good time while your here, you wouldn't want to leave. and that would be just fine with us too, the more the merrier.

Southern Hospitality is being polite to others. I was born in North Florida and have lived here all my life. I was raised to say yes maam no maam yes sir no sit. If you see someone on the street at the store etc. smile, speak, nod, something. It doesn't matter if you know them or not. I recently visited Ohio and wow the difference. You nod or smile at a stranger they glare back. Whats up with this? I heard a motivation speech were it was said to speak to 10 people a day, a friend or stranger.

Being all nice and welcoming and not laughing out loud (or snickering) when another Southerner says "bless your heart" to a non-Southerner and the non-Southerner thinks it is a good thing to hear said to oneself!

ok assuming that you really have no clue, Southerners are very friendly, talk to strangers while standing in checkout lines, wave to passerby while walking down the street, make you feel welcome in their homes at any given time and always offer a glass of tea or something to drink with that piece of pie, Southerners use good manners, say please and thankyou and their children say yes ma'am and no sir.
