I have satellite internet, and 2wire 1701HG router. I want to link the router to my mac for wireless internet, as the satellite connection does not provide wireless. please help

I tried the above answer and was unable to find the airport in the vetwork preferences. I have OS10.3.9

Well the basic setup will be
SatModem----> Wan/Internet Port of Router ---> Computers
So setup the Router to work first. Use a wired machine to one or the wired lan ports. Once you get internet working, then setup the wireless. You probably want to TURN off Wireless security till you get it all working. Then once working enable the security. You may find you end up using WEP in order to be compatible (it all depends on what your Mac OS supports).

You should be able to log on to the 2Wire from a browser at 192.168.1.254 or try
http://gateway.2wire.net/

Once you have one machine configured and working (with ethernet) adding a wireless shouldn't be too difficult.
