I am supposed to bring the turkey to my brothers house for cooking. I am guestimating there will be 8 adults and around 4 kids. How big should the Turkey be?

you should buy about one pound per person, meaning you need a12 pound turkey.
maybe, just to be on the safe side, go for a turkey around 14 or 15 pounds. worst case scenario, you'll be eating turkey sandwiches for a week : )

You need around 20 pounds, but buy 2 smaller ones instead of 1 large...they cook faster and better that way.
