Im extremely worried about my first game in 2 days b/c i dont really understnad what to do! Plays and drills aside, what do i need to do to simply play the game well? I know box out the person im guarding if they shoot, to dribble hard and fast, look for the open person and stay open, but thats about it! PLEASE HELP ME.

if you are new: concentrate on playing some good D, it might impress your coach so he/she actually puts you in

of course if your team is behind you might not get as much playing time if you can't shoot or rebound

If you have never really played before you kight be a lot better than you think, you just don't know it yet.

Very few bball games are won by an awesome shot, most are won by outhustling and outrebounding the other team.

Relax...this is your first basketball game. Too much cannot be expected of you, you have only been playing for two weeks. Visualize what your coach has told you to do and remember the good things you did in practice, the night before the game. Do not forget your uniform, gym shoes etc. Shoot if you are open, hustle for the ball, root for you teammates and most of all have fun. Enjoy the experience ...you only have your "first basketball game", once. Don't be worried, everything will be fun. Have a good time.

Hustle.

Get back on defense, get up the court on offense. You'll help your teammates, and you'll contribute more to the team.

Be quick, but don't hurry, as John Wooden would say. Keep the ball moving, but don't rush passes or shots. Act decisively when you have the ball.

See the ball. You'll only have it 10 percent of the time, so keep aware of where the ball is. When you are on defense, you'll soon have a good understanding of how the other team's offense works if you keep one eye on your man and the other on the ball.

Basketball is a wonderful game. So last piece of advice: have fun.
