Who first invented the motherboard? what were their names and when? why did they invent it?

ENAIC or ENIAC was one of the very first electronic digital computers. There is some disagreement about who really invented the first one. One claim is a guy working at Iowa State University in the physics department was the first. Look up the Iowa State University website. The Allied (British and US) intellegence group in WWII also used one of the earliest computers to break Nazi military codes (the "ENIGMA machine". There is lots of fascinating history on the subject.
