Regular bedtime, stick to a routine, eat dinner early so digesting doesn't keep me awake, tepid shower just before bed, do some gentle stretches, spend a few minutes doing something relaxing (reading, praying, meditating, daydreaming etc).

It takes me about 15 minutes to get to sleep. I lie on my side.

I have a soothing routine I like to follow. It involves relaxing and getting all ready for the night.

About two hours or so before I go to bed, I'll get a nice, warm shower. Following that is some leisure things that don't get my mind to up tight so I can sleep better. Something like reading or playing a fairly interesting game.

Once I do this, I will (and this is optional) I read a book, and as I lay in bed, I'll listen to a few, soft songs of music. It shouldn't be to hard to get to sleep after that and I've found a significantly better the next morning with this method.

I take two Tylenol PM every night. Two years ago, I couldn't sleep so I got up and didn't turn on the light for fear of waking my husband. I missed a step and fell down a full flight of stairs, the day before I was having Thanksgiving at my house. Ouch!

Ever since then, I've taken Tylenol PM to make sure I stay asleep.

I am on a Prescription of Trazadone. I couldn't sleep well at all........my mind went 100mile an hour or more all the time, even when I'd wake up at night which was a lot (so maybe I AM bi-polar?)

Anyway, doc started me out on one, then 2, and these small doses did not work.....we are up to 6 of the 50 miligram kind (they are smaller and aren't as hard to swallow).

I have several methods, but not one of them is listening to music although thats a popular way to help people sleep it has never worked for me. I usually listen to my t.v like one of those comedies where the laughs in the background just put me to sleep. Also I like to picture what my dream house would look like, i try to plan out my whole future, that always puts me to sleep. But also what works every time for me is closing my eyes and just not thinking of ANYTHING AT ALL, because if you have something on your mind its hard to sleep when your thinking, so clear your mind and just listen to whatever sounds around you -crickets-music-tv- w/e and just concentrate really hard on what your listening to. That works for me anyway.

I just go to bed. If I reaaaaly can't sleep, i'll lie down on the couch and watch TV until I get really tired and can't keep my eyes open, then I'll go to bed and SLEEEEP!

Well another thing sometimes helps... having a nice big relaxing "number 2" before I go to bed. I feel lighter, more relaxed and I could just drop to sleep straight away!
