Why do foreigners hate America?

I can understand anyone hating our government, but why do many people judge the American people that way?

OK I honestly dont give a crap if you dont like us, probably just cause yoyu dont live here. But I think it is stupid when people in [places such as Canada disrespect me just because of my leader when they havent even took a chance to look at me asd a person

americans boycotted french stuff AFTER the war started because the french didnt help.

Oh boy, thats 'the pot calling the kettle black'!!! All of us IN America ARE foreigners. I think only a Native American, as in the "tribes" that were all forced into itty bitty 'reservations"!! I was born into the american military--yet I speak-up for the 'true' americans...we all have our opinions. Don't completly be rash or judge me,please...I am actually a little bit [OKAY ALOT] angry with the "Illini Indian tribe". The absolute most wonderful tradition of "Cheif Illiniwick" at the u of illinois, champaigh-urbana..was always done so tastefully and with complete RESPECT of the Illini tribe.........It was something that I thought this particular state did so well..26 years I have lived here, and found myself always answering childrens "?"s about who what when, where of the Illini, which allowed us to discuss and honor that great tribe--now people shun the place it's really sad!!!!!!!!!!....I moved here from N.C., not far from the 'CHERROKEE' reservation, and felt so horribibly terrible about what our forefathers did, when 'taking' this land!!! If anyone can remember the t.v ad where the Indian Chief looks back into the camera with a tear running down his face...may understand where I am coming from.!?
And I agree, we are called every name in the book...untill they [overseas] need our help.....We need to take care of ourselves and 'our own' first--before we go giving to these nuts who take it in one hand, while in there other hand is a knife with our name on it!!!!

They don't. I've talked to many people from other countries and not a one of them have said anything about hating America or Americans. They may hate the government but not the people or the country.

Foreigners hate America because of its purposeless wars, like Iraq. Also the greed of this country is overwhelming. G.W.Bush is screwing up our country, 33% of americans actually like Bush.....only 33%. In iraq our troops are dying, and thousands upon thousands are injured. Hopfully when ur imagining injured ur not thinking about a cut or scrap, were talking about losing legs, arms, hands, eyes....were not understanding how many lives this country has ruined.

I use to be employed in a hotel (Melbourne, Australia) whereby we saw a lot of Americans come and go. And although, I never had an issue with them; they were always polite and beautifully mannered to me. However, I did hear others say that they were very loud and even a bit aggressive at times. I guess its a culture thing.
But personally, I think you guys are really great!

I've traveled quite a bit (including the middle east) and I've never met anyone who "hates" America or Americans. I have met many, both in and out of the US, who are critical of our foreign policies and attitudes towards their governments. The American idea that everyone in the world hates us is the product of media sound bites and a very squeaky American propaganda wheel.

The American government represent the American people for the people is the one who put them in power by voting or by not voting. but also, the many foreigners who hate americans are ignorant and stupid themselves because they are showing racism and a close mind when they say they hate all americans.

Because we arrogantly and routinely stick our noses into things that are none of our business. We help the "underdog" if it is in our own best interest (and it HAS to be otherwise we can't be bothered). We either pay off or bully other countries on a regular basis and we can't manage our own affairs. We have the nerve to tell other people what they should do; but do not take our own advice.

I dont think its HATE, at least not in Europe / SE Asia / Australia etc. We just perceive the average American as:

1. California stoned.
2. Louisiana rednecks
3. Mouthy Texans
4. Bush-voting Bible-Belters.

Im sure there ARE nice Americans, just not many of them make it onto TV or come to our countries as tourists. So we judge by those we see.

As for the countries that HATE America, well they seem to hate everyone, so dont feel too bad about it!

Cause, many foreigners see an image of a spoiled, selfish, rich, wasteful, and callous populace. It doesn't help when we send our representatives to places to bomb and or invade places either. Many little countries have had big problems with facets of American policy. No war has to be waged, but if an American backed dictator is ruling a small country, it kinda makes us look like hypocrites... Then again, it may just be because we are sooo FLY, and they are not...
