they sell special polishing clothes they really work... i have one of them and i love it

Yes, it works just fine. Most flutes (student models) are actually a nickel finish, but the silver polish works just as well on them.

A Q-tip, or strip of soft cloth is handy for the hard to reach areas too. (Ive taken an old polishing cloth, and cut a few 1/2" size strips, which I can use to pull back and forth, under the keys/mechanisms - faster than the Q-tip, hehe)

Oh, and if youve not treated the pads any in this 4 years, you might want to think about that in the near future. Some are leather, and some are cork....your best bet for those is the music store, to buy conditioner.

You could but you'll spend an hour or more getting all the residue out. I'd have it polished at a jewelry store.

Sure BUT
I recommend use brass cleaner/polish instead. Brass is a soft metal & truly needs the right cleaner AND a soft, soft rag.
