I'm always tempted to answer, "Yup, that's how it works."

And half the time, it ends up going to voting, where the guy who gave the dumbass answer, but has 52 accounts, votes for himself on all of them.

Hi cottoncandy,

Go into vote & see what kinda trolls, kids etc. answers get 10 points when the person who answers the question doesn't even come close to what the person is asking about in the 1st place. Have a good weekend. :0)
Additional Details: or just votes the 1st answer without reading through all the answers, best answer=10 points & you also get 3 points for giving a best answer also.

Because it's sort of a bribe that makes people want to look at their question more. Otherwise, you don't really think that much about getting a best answer until you get the email saying that you already have.

People are attracted to anything that means MORE for them. It sounds better than, "If you answer this question you'll get 2 points."

I say that sometimes because I want you to be creative and kinda know that this is somewhat of a competiton of answers. Besides, everyone doesn't choose a "best answer" for their question. They just let it ride and send it to voting.

I think they are trying to remind people that so they will give a good answer, which who knows why we all love points so much anyway!

The only thing that I can think of is that that's their way of trying to motivate people to give them their best when answering their question I guess.

Totally agree. It seems like a bribe or something to make you click, even though its obvious. Pointless if you ask me...
