I'm traveling for a week to a place that ONLY celebrates 90 days and 1 year anniversary's at the end of the month- should I wait until I come back to my homegroup in 10 days to celebrate or is it ok to celebrate tonight?

I've heard people from both sides of the spectrum- some who argue it's a jinx to celebrate early, even as little as 2 days early to others who agree it's not dramatic to celebrate 2 days early since I'm traveling.

Suggestions?

Congratulations!--that's MAJOR!!!! It is your sobriety and your celebration, so you get to choose. My own group believes that addicts don't celebrate enough, and they would encourage you to celebrate twice:-)

If some argue that you'll jinx yourself, tell them you'll do a Third Step on that. Sounds like a Higher Power problem! And if someone tells you what you should do...you might tell them to stop "shoulding" on you.

It's up to you but I just want to say congratulations!!!! Everyday is a celebration that you have made it as far as you have come! So celebrate tonight how long it's been & celebrate for yourself on Sunday. Call your sponsor & tell him or her how much they have helped you over the last 9 months.

I'd say celebrate whenever it's reasonably convenient. If you're a couple of days early or late, does it really make a difference to your level of commitment to staying sober?

If having the support, acknowledgment, and good wishes of the home group helps you stay sober, do it when you're with them, even if it's not the exact date.

i imagine, it relies upon on the collective expertise of the prince and the queen, both they losse the strength of will and develop into intoxicated or they enjoys the religious uplift presented by ability of the union.
