anyone besides me think that this is a totally materialistic society, we are ruining our kids and their future and we need to simplify?

great answers so far, it would mean very hard work, but we'd stay in shape and eat better! :)

Great idea but that's never going to happen. "Horse and buggy" days implies people working hard for a living, children respecting their elders, parents being able to spank kids when theyre naughty without worrying that theyre going to get arrested for abuse, families actually staying together, people being loving and caring and not only worried about themselves and how they can make their own lives better. Lets face it things are just going to get worse. We want the best of everything, and we want it now. We want better than our friends, more expensive than our neighbors, instant gratification. It amazes me how spoiled and lazy we've gotten. I say the amish people have the right idea. They live simple, happy lives. Sometimes I wish I could join them.

I have often thought about going back to horse and cart, it would help the environment immensely, and it would take longer but we would have time to enjoy the sites see the wild life and get to know others. To many people are giving their kids everything instead of making them work for it. If half these kids went back in time to the days of way out west and had to help the family out on the farm they would not get through the first week.

I would personally love it. It would certainly make things a little harder in life, but wow wouldn't our children have better work ethics, better manners, more respect for others, etc. I totally vote for this!!!
