20%... I was a server for many, many years. I know how hard the work can be.

About 20%.....
My kids and I only run up a tab of about $40.00 when we go out to eat. My kids like their food prepared in special ways...no mayo, BBQ on the side, fries extra crispy, Soda NO ICE, 1/2 Sprite 1/2 fuit punch (that one is mine...hehehe) etc. so I tend to tip a little more than the norm because of the waiter/waitesses extra effort. And we are always polite.

Depends on the waitress. Usually we give 2-5 dollars for a 30 dollar meal.*

Depends on the country.
In the US, its common courtesy to tip.
However, in some parts of Asia, people will refuse to accept a tip and will consider it disrespectfull if you offer it to them.
