The number one problem is lack of evidence. Where is it?
The burden of proof is on those that make the claim astrology is valid. This means any evidence that can pass REPEATED testing. If true, belief does not matter. No one here, despite of years (and decades) of study can say that that they are even remotely close to providing proof. If they could, they can reserve a ticket to Sweden, a Nobel Prize is a cinch. It would be that important of a discovery.
Other the science part, a big problem is that astrology is a highly bigoted concept. It excels in stereotyping and pigeon-holing based on date of birth. Do you accept bigotry based on race, sex, or for religous reasons? But astrology's bigotry is not a problem? This is irrational thinking. Once again, there is no data evidence to back this up.

There is no middle ground between Science and superstition. Science looks for for reasons that can be proven, or at least make mathematical sense. Superstition is a belief systems that seems to declare random things bring bad luck (the number 13, or a black cat crossing your path) or good luck.
Astrology falls in the same category as superstition. The stars have been in existence since long before we inhabited this eart.
The light that we see from them hundreds or thousands of years ago.
I have a Masters in Physics, and have never seen any sign that astrology works. But its fun to read.

The theories of astrology are real. The reason that people can usually pick themselves out of most charts readings is because there are always two sides to each aspect. There are SO many complicated factors in an astrology chart; depending on who you are and how you choose to be, different aspects of your chart could play out.
Like, you could be an Aries. Big Deal, that's only a basis and doesn't really say THAT much. But then you've got Libra Rising-> now that add a whole other [big] layer to your personality. But then you have alot of Saturn and then that adds a whole other layer. And each aspect of your chart mean something in relation to another. And each aspect has two ways that they usually can play out (such as when you are in the positive and or the negative forms).
My mom studies Astrology and the biggest thing I've learned about astrology, is that it is a good guide for yourself, but in the end, YOU are the one who chooses which way to be.
All in all, the 2 sentence blurbs that you read and the daily stuff you can get from Astrology.com is basically crap. Sorry, usually it doesn't correspond to much and they word it so it is incredibly vague and useless.

Astrology is "real" in the sense that there are conventions governing the practice. It is CERTAINLY NOT REAL in that the visible patterns of stars and plants at the moment of a person's birth cannot possibly, in any way, have any effect on their personality, their future prospects or their "compatibility" with another person. In that last case, it may have a secondary effect - if two people are both predisposed to believe in this twaddle and their TOLD by an alleged "professional" that they're incompatible, they'll believe it rather than actually finding out for themselves. It's amusing, I suppose, as long as you don't take it seriously, but anyone who bases any kind of important decision on astrology is a fool, And sometimes a dangerous fool. A few years back, Orange County, California (where else?) declared bankruptcy because the county official in charge of investing their funds made his decisions based on astrology. oops...
I cannot say this strogly enough ASTROLOGY IS BS!!!

Astrology can be whatever you want it to be.
You aren't stuck with it no, because over time you'll change and grow into or out of those details.
You could be outgoing and modest.
Or harsh, yet modest.
See what I mean? It's really what you make of it. Astrology can't determine what your personality is like.

Everything is real. You're entitled to your beliefs and we're entitled to ours. If you want to prove or disprove astrology you should go somewhere else besides an astrology group members web page. I'm sure you have some beliefs that I don't agree with so I'll agree not to come to your group to complain and insult you.

Well, it's always hard to tell exactly if the descriptions of the aspects and whatever else in your birth chart fit YOU for REAL or not.......mostly because a lot of us share the same feelings a lot of times....and a lot of us just evolve and flow from one small set of characteristics to another according to our experiences. So the personality traits and whatnot usually become pretty elusive when you try to pinpoint them like that when you try to do a "reading" of yourself based on seperate aspects of the birth chart. In my opinion, the only way you can make sure for real that your birth chart really is a mirror of your life and your own identity....you would NEED to consult an astrologer b/c the thing is that what they do is they look at the ENTIRE chart instead of just descriptions of separate parts of the chart. They have enough experience to know/imagine now what kind of experiences or traits certains aspects would produce when combined, etc. What astrologer do in a reading is they talk about life events that have happened to you..............and the ways in which they have affected you......as in your personality today? Yeah. And, just other things like that that no one could really just guess out of the blue. You would HAVE to see an astologer for something like this, though, because HE is able to look at the entire chart because he's had so many expeirences doing other readings for other people that he has been able to generalize and remember from various instances the typical characteristics of certain aspects, and what usually happens when you have both..or all three...or whatever else. So, as you now see why, I would advise you to go see an astrologer if you really are just like whhaaaat i'm soo confused if astrology is real or not because my birth chart descriptions just seem so elusive. At least that's how I AM a lot of times.....though it seems to fit perfectly with me....does it Really? Or is it just because I Want to beleive it? Understand.
Anyway, nowadays I truly believe in astrology. Know what did it for me? Number 1: Compatibility reports order to be made by an astrologer for free (i got lucky! i got 4 made!). This astrologer had no idea what my relationship was like with these people....he only had our birthdates to know from. He was sooo right. He could tell me the kind of relationships I had with people...for example my best friend, he said we liked each other's company a lot and could always find things to do together..there would be very few arguments between us..etc. And then with this guy who I have like since I was 5, he said that either one or both of us were not expressing to each other how we felt....and that i sooooo true I've always been embarassed about me having a crush on him..still do..and still am just as embarassed lol. And it's totally a secret because we are so far apart in age and our families are pretty close so i guess it's a little odd. Anyway he also said that he always made startling remarks to me to get me hyped upa little bit---and that we went from hot to cold many times---soo true..... There were also other things. Wiht the rest of the people he was just able to tell me certain thigns about us that were just like ok THAT's NOT coincidence. The biggest thing for me, though, is that he had no way to know if that guy that I liked since I was 5 jsut so happened to be one of my closest friends who i got along with really great. How was he to know that we are romantically attracted to each other and are not wanting to telling each other..ever? How was he able to say such great things about my synastry with my best friend ever whom i love and adore?
Anyway.....That is the first thing that really kept me hooked. The birth chart really said some whoooaahhh how'd you know that happend in my childhood, stuff. But these events were pretty sparse...that didn't happen too often. So synastry was what really made me feel that it wasn't just NoNseNse after all. K?
THEN..The final thing that was just like OK ASTROLOGY IS SOO SOOO true! for me......was how the Sun sign moon sign and ascendant affect how people look!
This was the website that held all that proof for me: http://www.librarising.com/astrology/
Go see for yourself, but here are some of my findings..
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ApwhTBDSV83EWYgYe3W2wabty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20071022204604AAlG7ld
I actually asked that question because I was curious to know what other people found, too. It's reaally amazing. I dunno if you see it or not, but the ascendants all really look so much the same and the sun signs, too. Even the moon signs! But the most astonishing thing is how obvious it is that a different moon sign (and sometimes it's obvious of an ascendant sometimes not that obvious but then ur like "ohhh i see it") can make each person int he same sunsign look slightly different..and more with the traits of the that moon zodiac sign. It's so amazing! Like a Virgo with a leo moon looks like a Virgo......but with a tinge of leo! He/she looks much more regal than say someone with Virgo sun Capricorn Moon. Ay.....it's just so cool. lol.
This is also another study showing how similar people with the sun moon and asc all in the SAME sign look ALIKE!

Happy astrology hunting......
