Stop smoking (or never start).
Learn a foreign language (helps prevent Alzheimer's).
Meditate.
Have a passion, but do not embrace it with attachment.
Have a pet.
Laugh. A lot.

Take vitamins--not megadoses, though.

Fit in physical activity whenever possible--take the stairs, don't always look for the closest parking space, mow your own lawn, etc.

Limit your eating of junk food. At the same time, stay away from strict or fad diets, which don't really work in the long run.

Don't smoke, and limit your alcohol intake. (And wine is better than beer or hard liquor.)

Go for a bike ride or a walk in the forest preserve every now and then.

Don't sweat the small stuff--people who are chronically under stress, or pessimists, don't tend to live as long. (To say nothing of the quality of life too.)

Finally, remember: moderation in all things, including moderation. :-)
