I'm looking to start college in fall 2009 after I graduate. I plan to move from south GA to Boston,MA for said college. I want to be pharmacist. I have family in Boston but my mom told me that i should stay in a dorm my first year. I really want to take my cat with me so I was thinking maybe an apartment instead.

I need scholarships to attend any college so I'd like to go somewhere nice if I'm going to work for my scholarships.

Please help with any ideas.

There are more great colleges in or near Boston than anywhere on the planet. Princeton Review has a tool on their web site that asks you questoins about your background and interests & then suggests colleges that are good for you. The link is below.

Ther eis only one real problem with your plan to live in an apartment. Boston is one of the most expensive cities to live in in the US. You might want to rethink that idea of living in a dorm.

There are TONS of colleges in the Boston area. Boston College, Boston University, Northeastern, Harvard, MIT, Tufts, the list goes on...Brown is about an hour away in RI, also. Most of the colleges are very expensive, however, and I don't know what kind of grades you have right now to get accepted, but regardless, there are tons. I'm not sure which ones are for pharmacy since I'm not into that, but definately look. I'm actually applying to Boston University.

well there are a variety of colleges here, but it all depends on your range. from level of difficulty:
1. Harvard or MIT, not sure which is the hardest
2. Tufts
3. Boston College
4. Boston University
5. UMass

There are lots more like Emerson, Northeastern, Emmanuel, etc but those 6 are the top colleges most people apply to in this area. I'm not crazy about any of the campuses, but with the exception of Tufts and some UMass campuses, they are all in busy parts of Boston.
